A rare opportunity to hear from one of the most celebrated film composers before an exclusive performance of his Parasite score with Orchestra Victoria. Hosted by Caitlin Yeo.
Already a musical icon in South Korea, Jung Jae-il has risen rapidly to international acclaim following his breakout score for Bong Joon-ho’s Cannes Palme d’Or– and Academy Award Best Picture–winning Parasite. Join Jung – exclusively in Melbourne on his first visit to Australia to perform this score – and Bright Horizons jury member and screen composer Caitlin Yeo as they discuss the multi-instrumentalist maestro’s already-formidable career. Along with Parasite, Jung’s credits include all three seasons of the hit Netflix series Squid Game, Bong’s Mickey 17 and Okja, Hirokazu Kore-eda’s Broker (MIFF 2022), and James Sweeney’s Twinless, which is screening at this year’s MIFF.
Caitlin Yeo is a multiple award-winning Australian screen composer with over 70 film and TV credits. She is well known for her bold and inventive scores, including for Bad Behaviour (Berlinale 2023), New Gold Mountain, Playing With Sharks: The Valerie Taylor Story (Sundance 2021) and The Rocket (Tribeca 2013). Caitlin has won two AACTA Awards, eight APRA AGSC Screen Music Awards and two FCCA Awards, among many others.
