If WHITE look as if they were beamed down from planet Berlin-era Bowie, on a mission to make music an occasion again, that is completely deliberate. From singer Leo Condie's orange trenchcoat and swooping vocals to drummer Kirstin Lynn's irresistible beat, this five-piece is a band that arrived fully formed with a very clear idea of how to do things their way.
While it's possible to pick out influences - Arcade Fire, Roxy Music, Talking Heads, LCD Soundsystem, Associates - WHITE are anything but a tribute band. They take the operatic ambition of Billy Mackenzie, the wit and camp of Edwyn Collins, the dance ambitions of the post-punk era and retool them for the 21st century.
