Echoing the traditional folk song writing of Scotland’s West-coast, and anthemic indie-rock alike, the Washington Irving’s powerful live form has seen them share tours with contemporaries such as Frightened Rabbit, Runrig and Wintersleep, as well as appearances at T in the Park, Belladrum, Dear Shed, Edinburgh Fringe, Hebridean Celtic Festival, The Great Escape and more.

Having taken a couple of years in the wilderness since recording their last collection of EPs, Palomides Vol I and II, they have crafted a fiery group of songs that tell a wholly different story. A story with a point. They travelled to the state of New York to work with Kevin McMahon, famous for his work with Titus Andronicus, Swans and Real Estate, to craft their new batch of songs into something different and far separated from their own country and city.

The band has just toured the UK and Ireland with Titus Andronicus coinciding with new single “We Are All Going to Die”.

"It would require a serious metal band to knock the three-guitar Washington Irving off their stride" - The Skinny

“Washington Irving have produced the darkest, most contagious singalong you'll hear...” CLASH

"with their gargantuan new single We Are All Going To Die being a highlight of the entire day. The chants ring on and help us carry on..." - Louder than War

"…intensifying beat, simmering guitar riffs, industrial drums and a sing-a-long chorus [makes] a lasting impression.” - Narc Magazine
"anthemic indie rock with nods to folk (including traditional foot-stomping sea-shanty instrumentals) through to full-on raw-throated rabble rousing punk rawk. Think a cross somewhere between The Men They Couldn’t Hang and The Skids if you will." - Mad Mackerel

"One of Scotland's finest new bands, they're carrying the folk torch and using it as an arsonist might" Scott Hutchison, Frightened Rabbit

“a band hell bent of injecting a dose of rock n roll into the folk scene” Punktastic

"Scotland's newest unmissable band”. STV

“Washington Irving deliver a fine set of rousing, air-punching, anthemic folk-rock on their debut album ‘Palomides’. Making one tearful for the homeland without any hint of tartan tat or bagpipes; these are gritty, soulful songs that draw on traditional music and modern indie-rock. Catch them live when you can, for a heartfelt and emotional performance!” Vic Galloway, BBC Scotland

"If there was any justice in the world, Washington Irving would be spread across the playlists of RADIO 1 & BBC 6 music, like a rash!" Tom Robinson, BBC 6 Music

“Washington Irving have found a wonderful balance between tapping into that beautiful Scottish habit of being completely miserable (think Frightened Rabbit’s seminal The Midnight Organ Fight for cheer level) and fantastically upbeat” Rockfeedback
