Hailing from Castlemaine, a small township deep inside the Victorian bush, D.D. Dumbo’s reverb-soaked songs erupt in thunderous rhythm and euphoric drone. Minimal in structure and complemented by Oliver Perry’s astonishing voice, the songs subtly reference traditional stylings from around the globe such as African desert blues, Tanzanian ilimba and transcendental Tuvan melody.

Performing solo with a 12-string electric guitar, two drums and a bunch of loop pedals, his mesmerising live show made D.D Dumbo one of the true standout acts at the 2013 SXSW Music conference. In the 12 months since he started performing, he was invited to support the likes of Warpaint, Tune-Yards, St Vincent, Jungle, Iron & Wine and do live sessions for NPR, Daytrotter and BBC Radio 1.

"This unconventional take on the blues - what makes it all the more exciting - is like nothing else being made in Australia right now” The Guardian

"It captivated me immediately with it's hazy desert blues sounds, industrial percussion and that wonderful voice of Perry's guiding it throughout. It swims through your head in the best of ways." Triple J Zan Rowe’s Catch of The Day

His first release on 4AD was 2014's Tropical Oceans EP, and recent shows with Tame Impala, Laura Marling and Daughter have cemented him as one to watch. He's currently working on his debut album.
