Chambao (Málaga, SPAIN)

Genre:World

One of today's most successful flamenco bands, CHAMBAO, came out of Malaga (Southern Spain) and burst onto the musical scene in 2002 with the album "Flamenco Chill" - a pioneering selection of tracks that gave rise to a new wave in music.
Chambao's unique blend of flamenco elements with swirling electronica and gentle club beats has revolutionized musical concepts ever since.
In 2003, Chambao's "Endorfinas en la mente" (Mind Endorphins) sold over 100,000 copies worldwide. In 2005, after the group disbanded, Lamari (the original lead vocalist) continued to release albums such as "Pokito a Poco" (Little by Little) under the band's name. Seeking inspiration in fresh ethnic sounds, but remaining close to the solid Mediterranean roots that distinguished the original band, Lamari released "Con otro aire" ( A Different Air ) in 2007.
Two years later, the band traveled to Argentina with an ambitious project: to record a live album at the Perito Moreno glacier. "Chambao en el fin del mundo" (Chambao at the end of the World) spotlights the band's commitment to environmental issues with a mixture of catchy tunes and poetry. In 2012, an album that captures the spirit of the band and its amazing wealth of sounds was released under the simple title "Chambao." In 2013, "10 Years Around the World' ( Sony Music) was released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of a remarkable trajectory by Chambao. The band of Malaga will return with a new album in the spring of 2016.
