Motel Radio is a rock band based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Formed in 2014, the band has approached songwriting with a reverence for past influences coupled with an enthusiasm for contemporary artists. As a result, Motel Radio has developed a sound that is rooted in Americana, yet constantly evolving.
Texas natives Ian Wellman and Winston Triolo began their songwriting collaboration while attending college in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where they would meet fellow musicians Eric Lloyd (drums) and Andrew Pancamo (bass). The band cut its teeth in the college bar circuit, all the while continuing to be heavily influenced by independent songwriters in the area.
In 2015, the band moved to New Orleans and immersed itself in the vibrant music scene. Motel Radio recorded its debut EP, Days and Nights, at Listen Up! Studios with local musician and producer, Mike Seaman. Building on a local following after the release of Days and Nights, the band was added to the Simple Play Presents artist management roster in Fall 2015. David Hart (keys), local musician and engineer at Bear America Records, joined the group shortly thereafter.
Since relocating to New Orleans, Motel Radio has had the privelage of opening for national acts such as Kristin Diable and Drive-By Truckers. Lauren Lola Victor, a columnist for Live for Live Music stated, “Their [Motel Radio] love for music and genuine connection to one another was evident by their performance. Their cohesion and enjoyement touched the crowd and raised the spirit and energy levels in the room.”
In November of 2015, Motel Radio travelled to the historic Dockside Studio in Maurice, Louisiana to begin tracking the band’s debut album with help from producers Justin Tocket and Ben Alleman. The band is looking forward to releasing new material and continuing to add tour dates to an active year in 2016.
