Tourista

Genre:Pop

Tourista is an indie pop band from Lima. It began in 2011 when Rui Pereira (lead vocals and rhythm guitar) decided to dedicate entirely to music. He set up a home studio and recorded the songs that would later become the band’s first EP, “Deficit de Atención” (2012).

A few months later, Sandro Labenita joined the project and formalizing Tourista. During the first show, the duo met Genko. He would become the third and final addition to the band. This is a band that has been able to stand out in the peruvian scene with a proposal that fuses pop with traditional latin american music. We can find tropical and afroperuvian rhythms up to andean melodies. The EP positioned Tourista in the latin american music landscape. Their music would appear on MTV’s Niñas Mal 2, and to shows in Chile and SXSW in Austin. They’ve opened for artists such as The Killers, Capital Cities, Ed Sheeran, Japandroids, Wild Nothing, Zoé and Boom Boom Kid, among others.

Their first LP “Colores Paganos” includes chilean producer Cristian Heyne (Gepe, Camila Moreno, Javiera Mena) and colombian producer Javier Rodriguez (Telebit) as producers.“Colores Paganos” is an album filled with light, nuances and explorations within the pop field. Songs like “Caminito”, “Malabrigo” or “Gato por Liebre” are musical roads to escape the city and reconnect with nature. The single, “Select y Start” will lead the band’s debut album. It’ll be released simultaneously in Peru, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Spain.
