Navelle Hice (Chester PA)

Genre:Hip-Hop / Rap

Navelle Hice (formally known as, “Young Chief” & “Chiefy”), is an up and coming independent rap artist and songwriter. Navelle is a native of Chester, PA, a small urban city outside of the Philadelphia area. Navelle's musical journey began at a young age after being inspired by his middle school music teacher to write a “rap” for a school project; in doing so, this ignited a spark to the flame already burning inside of him for music. He soon discovered his ability to put together rhymes to music and compose songs. He was a part of an after school mentoring program that focused on music recordings, etc., and this is where he made his first ever mix tape.

Under the stage name of "Young Chief & "Chiefy", Navelle was able to achieve some great things in his musical career; some of which includes two appearances on BET’s 106 and Park, a performance on the Apollo stage, The Philadelphia Eagles Stadium and the opening act for the UniverSoul Circus in Philadelphia, PA. Navelle has performed and headlined at many events in his local hometown area. Additionally, he's performed on stages in Philadelphia, New York, Atlanta,Texas and on a Carnival Cruise ship! In the span of his career, he’s been afforded the opportunity to be the opening act for some well-known artists like Fabolous, Jadakiss, J. Cole and Miguel just to name a few. His music has been featured on some of his local hometown radio stations and internet radio stations. Team Living Proof, LLC was formed in June 2010 during a pivotal time in Navelle's life.

Navelle was fortunate enough in 2014 to put together his own independent tour, "Kickin Down The Doors Tour" and he performed at several colleges and universities. He won "Best Performer" for the 2014 Real Exposure Show; he was one of the Top 5 finalists for PHL Live Center Stage and was recognized with a citation by the City of Philadelphia and Councilman David Oh for his performance in the PHL Live event. Navelle’s music video for his song “No Other Way” was also featured on MTV Jams and Comcast On-Demand in 2014.

Through the years, Navelle has written hundreds of songs, made several music videos, composed more than twenty mix tapes & CD’s. With all the things Navelle accomplished, there was still something missing. In early 2015, after his Damascus road encounter with God, Navelle made a drastic change in his career by dropping his stage name and all that was associated with "Chiefy", to embark on the new journey in his life and to be known simply by his birth name, Navelle Hice.

In June of 2015, Navelle Hice released one of his newest albums titled “Faith, Hope and Love”. This CD reflects a critical turning point in Navelle’s life and the transformation that took place in him from the inside out. The month the CD was released is significant as Navelle considers it his second birthday, widely due to an incident that changed his life. On June 27, 2010, after leaving a performance, Navelle was robbed at gunpoint and subsequently shot. The one gunshot caused substantial damage that left the doctors questioning if he would be able to walk again. He had extensive damage to his internal organs which resulted in the removal of one of his kidneys. This was a very difficult time for Navelle, but, through this tragedy, God brought great triumph! Navelle knows that "...all things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose..." (Romans 8:28). The songs on this CD speak of his personal journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance of who he is as an individual and an artist. Navelle doesn't want to be boxed in by being labeled as a certain "type" of artist; he wants his music to speak to that. He feels that having labels confines you and the message God is giving him through his music cannot be contained to a "label". Navelle unashamedly confessed that he’s a man who loves God first and he just so happens to be gifted with the ability to "rap"- that's the type of artist he is. He desires through his music to inspire those who listen with a sense of hope, a sense of being true to your authentic self and to be in pursuit of your God ordained destiny.

Recently, after Navelle obeyed God and submitted to HIS will for his life, doors of opportunity continue to be opened for him. In late 2015, he was honored to be a guest on the Willie Moore Jr. Radio show and have his hit song,"LWGD"(Look What God Done) featured with airtime play. Navelle also released a new mix tape titled,@NavelleHice, followed by his #SelfieStickFreestyle campaign which included video presentations of songs featured on the mix tape. He will soon be releasing his new album, "Hopeman" and beginning the "Hopeman Tour" in 2016. Navelle will also be an official performing artist for the SXSW Music Festival in March of 2016, which is one of the largest music festivals in the world. He continues to spread his message of love and hope every time he has the opportunity.www.NavelleHice.com
