Genre:Hip-Hop / Rap
Often described as jubilant and lively, this group has become one of Canada's most respected and heralded music acts. Their rambunctious live shows cause a stir at any festival they play, making fans out of audiences both at home and abroad. After recently being picked to join Beastie Boys’ Mike D for a Converse Rubber Tracks studio session, as well as recent tours in Japan, the UK, Poland, Germany and The Netherlands, Winnipeg, Manitoba's 'The Lytics' are quickly becoming one of the genre's more seasoned acts. Throw in recent opening slots for the likes of Nas and Run The Jewels, showcases with The Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Liverpool Sound City, The Great Escape and Reeperbahn, as well as an album slated for release in 2016, it's looking like things are about to get interesting. Often citing Pharcyde, De La Soul, Slum village and The Fugees as inspiration, they’ve created a sound that has obvious sonic similarities but with a little something that can only be cultivated in the geographic isolation that Winnipeg provides them. With a musical pallet rooted in Reggae, Soul, Jazz and all things Boom Bap, their penchant for experimentation is in the DNA. A word to live show goers, expect something familiar yet completely unique.
